Laurence Bowes joined the theoretical physics group at Plymouth University in October 2020. He has a Master in Physics from Swansea University. His MSc project was: Exceptional Generalised Geometry and Dualities in M Theory.
He is studying for a PhD in theoretical physics in the area of lattice gauge theories for beyond the Standard Model physics, which is funded by STFC. His research projects focus on making predictions in models of New Physics, called composite Higgs models, in which the Higgs boson is not a fundamental particle but made of new particles bounded by a new strongly interacting force. These models are under active investigations at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland.
