Title: Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) Modelling of Tsunami Waves Generated by a Fault Rupture
Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) is a meshfree, Lagrangian, particle method. It is particularly well suited to simulating flow problems that have large deformations or contain free surfaces. In this talk we use a single phase weakly compressible SPH model to simulate a dam break flow and the flow that occurs in experimental models of Tsunamis generated by a fault rupture. The experiments have been carried out at University of Plymouth’s COAST laboratory.
