Real-time dynamics of fermion production in lattice gauge theories
While real-time lattice gauge theory is not amenable to standard
importance sampling techniques, for a large class of time-dependent
problems the quantum dynamics can be accurately mapped onto a
classical-statistical ensemble. After introducing this technique and
discussing its range of validity, we use this method to study three
intriguing real-time phenomena of quantum electrodynamics: (I) Schwinger
pair production, (II) real-time dynamics of string breaking, (III)
anomaly-induced dynamical refringence.
