The effective string in confining gauge theories, an update.
I present the low-energy effective theory of long confining strings describing the potential V(R) of two static sources in Yang-Mills theory.
Upon expanding V(R) in powers of 1/R, the first few terms turn out to be universal. The origin of this universality is now well understood.
