Detection of gravitational waves from BH-BH coalescences.

After a brief introduction about gravitational waves, binary systems and data analysis, I will focus on the significance of the first BH-BH coalescence detections made by LIGO.
I will use data from these detections to discuss which informations that can be extracted in general from the study of a GW signal produced during a coalescence, with an eye at what can be expected in future observation runs.
