Determining hadronic contributions to g-2 through lattice simulations
The anomalous magnetic moment of the muon (g-2) features an intriguing discrepancy of ~3.6 standard deviations between the theoretical prediction and experimental measurements. Along with the undergoing experimental effort at FNAL, it is crucial to reduce the theoretical uncertainty on this quantity to determine if the observed discrepancy is a hint for physics beyond the Standard Model. The actual theoretical uncertainty is dominated by non-perturbative hadronic contributions to g-2. Lattice simulations allow to compute directly these contribution from first principles. In this talk I will present methods to compute on the lattice the hadronic vacuum polarisation which is the leading hadronic contribution to g-2. I will conclude by presententing the status of the RBC-UKQCD collaboration calculation of this contribution.
